Do I need Smartgloves to use Coil Pro?
Yes. Rokoko states the Coil Pro requires Smartgloves to establish EMF position. It can run gloves-only, or with Smartgloves plus a Smartsuit Pro II. The suits derive global position data only when paired with the gloves.
What is the actual capture range?
Rokoko publishes this inconsistently: the store page says a 2 m radius, the product page mentions both 2 m and 5 m, and the support centre says the gloves pick up the signal within a 5 m radius but recommends staying within 3 m for optimal EMF accuracy. Plan for roughly 2–3 m of high-accuracy space with signal out to about 5 m, and keep performers at least 50 cm from the unit. We are happy to review your capture space with you.
Is a tripod included?
No. The Coil Pro has a 1/4"-20 UNC thread at its base for a tripod or ceiling mount, and Rokoko sells a recommended tripod separately. The power supply with EU/US/UK/AU adapters is included.
What happens if a performer walks out of range?
With a suit, the IMU sensors take over and capture continues inertially. In a gloves-only setup, tracking locks to the last known position until the performer returns to the field.
Are there environmental restrictions?
Yes. Ferrous metal affects the field, so structural steel, metal staging and rebar-heavy floors all matter. Rokoko also advises keeping 1.5 m from guitar pickups and dynamic microphones and 2 m from hearing aids. Coil Pro cannot be combined with the positioning tool, treadmill filter or elevation tracking while it is active.
